Marketing Manager

BASIC PURPOSE

Write and enhance all marketing collateral (white papers, case studies, video presentations, testimonials, articles, etc.) to maximize Vanguard's marketing opportunities and ensure that all Vanguard staff (including executive team and sales teams) have the collaterals and tools necessary to sell and promote Vanguard's products.

STATEMENT OF WORK: SPECIFIC JOB ASSIGNMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Generate new marketing materials to include video presentations, web site content, enhanced white paper and case study content, product spec sheets, and the like which will be included in all Vanguard operations and which are aimed at supporting Vanguard's marketing efforts and product/business messages. Position Vanguard Integrity Professionals as the premier organization offering intelligent solutions for the mainframe security space with a business-case scenario-based marketing message and outreach program. Candidates will develop all necessary collateral (white papers, case studies, user testimonials, video presentations, etc.) highlighting the management, regulatory and business-case needs through appropriate messaging, interaction, and customized event-based scenarios.
    Deliverables include:
    • development of video presentations (at lease one per month) using Camtasia or other video presentation tools
    • review of current Vanguard materials
    • assessment and recommendations for additional and/or updating content on Vanguard materials to fit enhanced messaging in target markets
    • production of business-case case studies in short form for use with marketing and press materials
    • production of white papers (minimum of one per month) with a specific focus (business-case scenario is first)
    • assessment of and assistance with product spec sheets as appropriate
    • assistance with the generation of a Vanguard corporate presentation to include enhanced messaging and for use as a template for Vanguard moving forward and including enhanced messaging
    • construction of three scenario-based case studies (in short form) for use on the Vanguard website and in marketing materials to support the business-case and compliance messaging.
  2. On-going competitive analyses
    Deliverables include:
    • Produce positioning papers and statements on competition
    • Developing and marketing "Bear traps" and Vanguard key differentiating factors; Deliver them as value propositions to customers, prospects, business partners, etc.
    • Produce detailed SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) Analysis of competitors, updated quarterly
  3. Generate an enhanced business message for Vanguard, to include content review, creation, generation, dissemination, etc..
    Deliverables include:
    • review of all website content and assistance with the updated content generation (as appropriate) for updating all messaging-related marketing documents (to include: sales literature, website, email, presentations, and more)
    • generation of outreach campaigns targeting the CISO, CFO, CEO, and CIO with separate messaging as appropriate
    • submission of Vanguard products for appropriate product reviews and on-site support (as appropriate) for said testing, and more.
  4. Position Vanguard Integrity Professionals around revised business-based messaging
    Deliverables include:
    • review of current Vanguard materials
    • messaging recommendations for Vanguard's primary and vertical spaces
    • paration of messaging strategy session
    • messaging analysis - research info space and current messaging impact
    • goal-setting for enhanced messaging
    • Paration for and participation in enhanced messaging session (live)
    • Analysis of impact of enhanced messaging
    • Review and recommendations for messaging outreach
    • Generation of messaging-based document and guidelines for all outbound communications from Vanguard henceforth
  5. Work with Marketing Communications Manager to place and promote relevant Vanguard authored article(s) and case studies into targeted trade publications and to increase Vanguard's exposure through targeted, specific bylined editorial opportunities.
    Deliverables include:
    • Discussion of and brainstorming for key white paper goals
    • Discussion of and brainstorming for key case study scenario-based materials
    • Production of case studies up to a maximum of three per quarter
    • Production of white papers (minimum one per month) designed for marketing use
    • Production or articles (minimum one per month) designed for marketing use
    • Generation of a key media list for potential case study inclusion, as appropriate.
  6. Work with Vanguard's business partners effectively to promote products and company messaging and help increase sales through those channels.
    Deliverables include:
    • Create and execute marketing plan to successfully manage Vanguard's partner relationships including the IBM relationship
    • Work with sales team to Develop and execute a program for enhancing product sales through our channels
  7. Help sales with management of Goldmine and customer tracking issues
    Deliverables include:
    • Develop thorough understanding of Goldmine and work with sales to ensure that all data is analyzed and utilized to maximize sales to customers
    • Analysis of customers, sales activities to identify patterns, etc. to help sales target opportunities; develop marketing plan to attack those opportunities
  8. Increase Vanguard's exposure through targeted, specific bylined editorial opportunities.
    Deliverables include:
    • Co-author articles for Vanguard and Vanguard personnel to be included in industry publications
    • Create topics for articles and work with Vanguard to draft articles centered around those topics and Vanguard's products and services
  9. Position Vanguard's annual Expo as the premier security event for year creating business opportunities and momentum for Vanguard. Identifying and manage tradeshows.
    Deliverables include:
    • Specific and aggressive marketing campaign for Expo, working closely with the conference department
    • Making sure that Vanguard employees in public events and tradeshows are mentored on etiquette
    • Train employees on what their goal is at tradeshows
    • Post-event analysis of effectiveness of the tradeshow and marketing campaign
    • Creation of effective "trinkets & trash"
    • Post-event activities must include maintaining information (e.g., Goldmine)
  10. Target specific markets and position company's products with targeted and specific marketing campaigns and collateral
    Deliverables include:
    • Create and execute plan to effectively attack government market
    • Create and execute plan to launch common criteria and Enforcer
    • Create and execute plan to market Vanguard's products and services based on industry, legal and regulatory requirements, deadlines, etc, and develop comprehensive product mapping (mapping each product to these requirements and deadlines)
    • Create and execute plan to target other service providers to promote Vanguard tools and to subcontract our professional services staff to provide services
    • Create and execute plan to target regulatory influencers (SEC, Federal Reserve, GAO, etc.)
