Senior Quality Assurance Analyst
BASIC PURPOSE
Perform black box testing of all products against pre-defined requirements and validate the results. Formulate/document test plans for recreatable test scenarios. Create and maintain automated test scripts by utilizing existing tools and available languages for all existing products.
DUTIES
- Program automated test scripts using existing IBM utilities and proprietary software.
- Perform testing to determine that Vanguard interfaces comply with industry standards.
- Install products and apply maintenance (SMP/E, etc.).
- Ensure proper reporting of test results by a) adhering to proper problem log reporting procedure processes b) provide status reports.
- Document internal procedures and processes.
- Use client and mainframe change control procedures for development of QA components.
- Make recommendations for improvements, consistency, etc.
- Maintain Quality Assurance testing environments including but not limited to OS updates, patches, virtualized systems, etc.
- Write test objectives and scripts so that expected results can be validated Vanguard Product line against the various platforms supported.

- Perform mainframe testing using JCL, CLISTs, REXX, COBOL and utilities.
- Validate that the new release requirements, the documentation and the expected results are equal.
- Ensure that test scripts are written so that they are repeatable by other QA Analysts or by less skilled staff.
- Consult with other QA staff members and development to determine how features are utilized.
- Create regression testing as required.
- Meet with development to help formulate test plans to be used for unit testing and eventually in the quality assurance process.
- Proof product documentation for content and quality.
- Supervise Quality Assurance staff in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Must have a bachelor's degree, trade school or 10+ years experience in Information Systems.
- Must have at least 3 years experience in the Quality Assurance function and at least 5 years in development or an equal combination.
- Must be fluent in English.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Must have in depth knowledge of the z/OS operating environment.
- Must have at least Intermediate knowledge of RACF (command level, utilities, etc.).
- Must have knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and QA processes (ISO/IEEE/CMM desired).
- Must be able to ascertain and stay focused on objectives and deliverables as per software requirements.
- Must be able to track task durations and keep a repository for estimating future activities.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio, and Microsoft Project.
- Must have some knowledge of mainframe maintenance application (e.g. SMP/E).
TYPE OF EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE
- Must have good PC, z/OS, TSO and JCL knowledge.
- Must know at least one programming language such as Mainframe Assembler, COBOL, CLIST, REXX and one PC based language such as C#, C, or Java.
- Knowledge of z/VM, z/OS DB2, DB2 UDB, vSphere, VMWare and authentication protocols like RADIUS, LDAP, etc. a plus.
- Knowledge of ACF2 and Top Secret a big plus.
WORK ENVORONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- General office environment in which some stress may occur due to meeting product deadlines.
